Automotive technology is not limited to vehicle construction, but also encompasses road infrastructure, energy supply infrastructure, positioning and navigation, and traffic management. This broader, integrated approach, whose components ultimately enable autonomous driving when working together, also reflects our areas of activity. The future development of individual mobility by motor vehicles will therefore shift away from an isolated focus on the core component of automotive engineering to date and will be directed towards the interaction of all the above-mentioned technology components. Nevertheless, automotive engineering will also influence the near future of patenting with innovations in the field of electromobility and on-board storage of electrical energy.
