Detailssearch
A search in publicly accessible databases and in the professional (and chargeable) databases we use is a simple and relatively inexpensive means of obtaining information.
If an inventor or potential applicant for a patent or utility model wishes to know what is already known as the so-called prior art, we conduct the corresponding patent searches. These patent searches draw on patent and utility model publications, as well as on publications of patent applications from the most important industrialised countries.
When searching for new product names or new names for services, a trade mark search is extremely helpful, if not indispensable, to avoid immediately coming into conflict with the trade mark rights of third parties when starting to use a new product name or a new service name.
At the same time, a trade mark search also provides insights into whether trade mark protection can be acquired for one's own product or service name.
When establishing a company, it is often assumed that an inquiry at the relevant chamber of commerce and industry is sufficient to avoid possible collisions of the envisaged company name with prior rights of third parties. However, this does not take into account that companies outside the jurisdiction of the relevant chamber of commerce and industry may have prior rights to a name, company name or trademark. The consequence of this is that the own company has to be renamed a short time after its foundation, which causes additional costs and renders worthless any investments already made in building up the own company name.
We therefore conduct comprehensive searches for you in a wide range of relevant databases in order to minimise the above-mentioned risks when founding a company.
